Why Is Exercise Worth It? What's In It For Me?

It seems like everyone dreads having to exercise these days and unfortunately perceive it as a punishment rather than a celebration of your body's capacity, ability to move and express strength and functionality.

It is no wonder that many people are asking themselves, "why exercise?" and whether the benefits are really worth it.

In this blog post we will explore some of the amazing benefits of exercise on mood, stress levels, anxiety, depression, chronic illness risk, overall health markers and how an improved quality of life and sense of well-being are just a few key outcomes.

So let's take a look at some compelling reasons why exercise should be part of your regular routine!

There are countless reasons why exercise is worth it. In fact, exercise has a remarkable impact on our overall health and well-being. Not only does exercise help us stay physically healthy, but it also helps improve our mood, reduces stress and anxiety levels, and can even help treat depression. Additionally, exercise can lead to a longer lifespan and reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. So what's in it for you? Quite a lot, actually!

Let's start with mood...

Exercise has a profound impact on our mood. In fact, exercise is one of the most effective treatments for depression and anxiety. Regular exercise releases endorphins, which are hormones that have a positive effect on our mood. Exercise also provides us with a sense of accomplishment and can boost our self-confidence.

Next, let's look at stress and anxiety...

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. It can help us blow off some steam and improve our mood. Exercise also helps us focus on the present moment and can distract us from negative thoughts. This can be especially helpful for people who struggle with anxiety or panic attacks.

Why does exercise improve my mood and help with anxiety? What happens hormonally?

When we exercise, our body releases endorphins. Endorphins are hormones that have a positive effect on our mood. They can help improve our mood and reduce stress and anxiety levels. Additionally, exercise can help us focus on the present moment and distract us from negative thoughts. This can be especially helpful for people who struggle with anxiety or panic attacks.

So far, we've looked at the benefits of exercise for mood. But what about its impact on physical health?

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your physical health. It helps reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It also improves our health markers, such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar levels. Additionally, exercise leads to a better quality of life and sense of well-being.

Next, let's talk about how exercise leads to improved confidence...

Exercise can help improve our confidence. When we exercise, we see tangible results. We become stronger, leaner, and more toned. This can lead to a boost in self-confidence and an improved body image. Exercise can also help us feel good about ourselves on the inside. We become more confident in our abilities and feel better about ourselves overall. Not only do we can satisfaction from seeing external progess visually, but also from the effort needed mentally to implement the positive behaviors needed to improve. This improved confidence has direct carry-over to every other aspect of your life in a positive manner.

Thus far, we've looked at the benefits of exercise for mood, physical health, and confidence. But there are even more reasons why exercise is worth it!

Exercise can help us live longer. In fact, exercise is one of the most effective ways to extend our lifespan. Regular exercise helps reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It also leads to a better quality of life and sense of well-being.

Let's talk about how exercise can lead to a happier life...

Exercise can help us live a happier life. When we exercise, we feel good about ourselves. We have more energy and vitality. We become stronger and leaner. We feel more confident and capable. All of these things lead to a happier life. Exercise gives us a sense of accomplishment and can help us focus on the positive aspects of life. It can also provide us with a sense of community and social support.

Next, the benefits of consistent exercise can positively impact your relationships. You're becoming a better version of yourself which can be conducive to a happy relationship. In addition, you're being a positive role model for your partner as you're prioritizing personal development.

My favorite aspect of exercising is that in our society we are so hyper-comfort and convenience oriented that we are very rarely pushed outside of our comfort zones. When we subject ourselves to vigorous exercise, we willingly embrace "the suck" and demand more from ourselves, which is the most powerful aspect of all. Building and developing the discipline and self-respect to take yourself past your perceived limits is liberating and addicting to say the least.

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health. It helps reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. It also improves our health markers, such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and blood sugar levels.

So, what's in it for you? Quite a lot, actually! Exercise has a profound impact on our mood, stress levels, anxiety levels, physical health, confidence, and overall happiness. It's definitely worth it!
